Melody Lane
Internet & Data Services
Project
Melody Lane Internet & Data Services is a Rockford, Illinois-based tech services company specializing in Starlink installation, custom security camera systems, and structured data cabling for residential and commercial properties throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
The client came in as an experienced IT professional launching his own business after years working within a larger company. The challenge was positioning a brand new company to compete credibly against established players from day one — without a logo, without a website, and with only one brand asset: a neon sign from a side business that carried the name and a color that would become the foundation of everything.
That electric cyan became the anchor. Combined with a near-black navy and royal blue, the palette signals technology and precision without feeling corporate or cold. Typography was built around Audiowide for headings — a geometric tech typeface that reads as modern and forward-looking — paired with Verdana for body copy to keep readability clean across all devices.
All copy across the site was researched and written from scratch. My background in IT and networking made it possible to write accurately about Starlink installation, structured cabling, and network infrastructure — not just describe services, but explain them in a way that builds trust with both residential and commercial clients. Competitor research was used to identify gaps in how other local services were positioning themselves, and the copy was written to fill those gaps deliberately.

Website Architecture
The site architecture was built around three core services — Starlink Installation, Security Camera Installation, and Data Cabling — each with its own dedicated page designed to rank independently in search. SEO optimization was applied throughout: page titles, meta descriptions, header structure, and copy written with search intent in mind. For a service business that depends on local traffic, getting found is as important as looking credible once someone arrives.
Logo Design
The logo was designed with full creative freedom — a custom ML lettermark with a satellite dish element integrated into the M, reinforcing the Starlink and connectivity focus while keeping the mark clean enough to work across business cards, the website, and signage. A brand guide was created to document usage standards for future applications.
Logo
Business Cards
Beyond the website and brand, the engagement included domain registration setup on GoDaddy, professional email configuration, and a Google Business Profile — built and optimized to support local search visibility from launch.
